New Orleans Carpet

By Michael Hilton

In all disaster situations in which a significant amount of property is destroyed, profiteers inevitably descend upon the area in hopes on earning huge profits due to short supply of necessary construction items. I will always remember, living in the south Florida area following Hurricane Andrew and being forced to pay $7 a bag for ice that was 75 cents a bag the week before.

Carpet and flooring is no different in these situations. While the income of New Orleans area carpet and flooring retailers is limited by the number of carpet and flooring installers they have access to, this should not give cause to providing a blank check for irresponsibility. In many cases, carpet and flooring products that would normally sell for $3 to $5 per foot are selling for $8 to $10 per foot in the Greater New Orleans area. While this profiteering is not limited to carpet and flooring materials, carpet and flooring is one of the few industries in which the consumer has the opportunity to "just say no".

Unlike electric wire, roof shingles, windows, and other housing construction materials, the majority of carpet and other flooring materials is manufactured in the Dalton Georgia area where a large number of Carpet and Flooring wholesalers reside. These flooring wholesalers sell flooring products at substantially discounted prices and sell directly to local New Orleans Flooring retailers and consumers.

New Orleans Carpet Retailers

One of the problems that New Orleans flooring retailers have experienced is over extension of their credit lines from the Carpet manufacturers. While these New Orleans Carpet Retailers may pay their bills on time, the carpet manufacturers can only extend a certain amount of credit to each flooring retailer. Once this credit limit is reached, they cannot ship anymore carpet. This further limits the capacity of the New Orleans Flooring retailer to earn additional profit and can drive up prices further. Dalton Flooring wholesalers ease this credit pinch by selling directly to the New Orleans flooring retailers to augment their carpet manufacturer shipments.

However, in most instances consumers can purchase these same products from the Dalton Flooring Wholesaler at the same prices. The Dalton Flooring Wholesalers can do this because there is less risk in selling a consumer. The consumers in using a credit card to purchase the product offers same day payment for the Dalton Flooring Wholesaler rather than selling the New Orleans Flooring retailer using a credit line. For both the consumer and New Orleans Flooring retailer, the carpet or other flooring product ships the same week by common carrier and if the order ships out-of-state, no sales tax is charged.

All of the Carpet Buyers Handbook Dalton Carpet Wholesalers ship carpet directly to the New Orleans area and each carpet wholesaler sells discount carpet at wholesale carpet prices.
