Monsanto, however, had perfected their stain resistant formulas to offer a warranty for hot beverages. Hot beverage stains were common because hot liquids would open dye sites and allow stains to "leak" in. Monsanto (now Solutia) was the first to capitalize on this Stainmaster weakness and earned a sizeable share of the market by communicating this selling point. Solutia also up staged Dupont Stainmaster by extending their Stain warranties to seven years, rather than five. They also recognized that other stain resistant carpets offered a pro rated warranty. In essence, at four years (of a 5-year stain warranty) the percentage of reimbursement would decrease as the carpet aged. Monsanto contended that they were not "tire salesmen" and offered a full seven-year warranty, full replacement warranty.
Wear Dated products use only type 6.6 nylon, the premium choice for nylon fibers. Type 6.6 nylon provides an excellent recovery rating, excellent appearance retention, excellent colorfastness, and excellent resistance to soil and staining. Wear Dated products have minimum carpet construction standards and must meet minimum standards for twist level, carpet density, pile weight, and pile height. Every carpet style that carries the Wear Dated label is tested for performance. While most branded carpet fibers will perform to your expectations, Wear Dated products have always seemed to be a step above the competition.
