| Why You Should List Your Wholesale Carpet Business on The Carpet Buyers Handbook. TRAFFIC - The Carpet Buyers Handbook has averaged 1700 unique visitors per day over the past two years. Since initiating our Site Partner Program on July 9, 2004, we have averaged 2300 unique visitors each day. Currently, we now average more than 3,000 unique visitors each day and more than 97,000 hits each day. TARGETED TRAFFIC - The majority of Carpet Buyers Handbook visitors are consumers, buying or about to purchase carpet. Our demographics survey tells us, most are married women, Age 35-45, college or some college. Unlike many Carpet Wholesaler web sites, we don't get a lot of other carpet wholesalers checking our site for "specials". RANKING - The Carpet Buyers Handbook is listed as the Number One carpet/flooring website on the WWW with an asterisk *. Rankings are deceiving because their is no central source to tally the total. Spyware services drop a tracking cookie on unsuspecting web surfers and the spyware company estimates ranking based on the surfing habits of these 60,000 to 100,000 web surfers. Most of our site visitors are surfing from work, generally after lunch on computers that routinely scan for and eliminate virus' and spyware programs. CLICKS/REFERRALS - Our G00gle Page Rank (See G00gle Page Rank) was The Carpet Buyers Handbook's primary rationale for inviting Carpet Wholesalers to list on our site. We never anticipated that consumers would click from our site to our Site Partners sites in any significant numbers. WE WERE WRONG! Tracking numbers indicate our listing Site Partners average 35-60 clicks a day from the Carpet Buyers Handbook to their web site. Not 35-60 "Clicks" per day, but rather 35-60 "Carpet Buyers" per day. For several of our site partners, we became their top referring site over G00gle, Yahoo, MSN, and others. PRICE QUOTE REFERRALS - Our Consumer Price Quote Section enables consumers to enter Manufacturer and Style information into an email submittal form and this is forwarded to our Site Partners. Our number of daily referrals fluctuate with the Carpet Seasons, but we have never had a day with fewer than 5 referrals and in peak seasons, we average 15-20 per day. Initially, many of our consumers were hesitant about buying carpet online, but our Site Partners have been very pleased with the quality and quantity of leads. Every Carpet Buyers Handbook has subscribed to our service for a second, third, and fourth six-month renewal G00gle PAGE RANK - G00gle accounts for about 45% of all WWW searches. All search engines are concerned about having the entire WWW mapped, but they also want relevant or high quality search results. G00gle uses a "page rank" system, as a part of its search algorithm named, named after the originator Larry page. While the system is highly complex, the basis of the algorithm counts the number of links to a particular page from external sites and the ranking of the linked page comes up higher or lower within search results based on this Page Rank. The premise is that if a webmaster is impressed enough with a web page or web site to link his/her site to it, it must be a quality site. G00gle not only uses a quantitative ranking (number of links), but they also use a qualitative ranking. The algorithm increases in complexity by looking at the number of links to a referring page and G00gle assigns a page rank for the referring page and assigns a value for a link from this page. The G00gle Page Rank system is still being investigated by web masters seeking high rankings, but G00gle assigns a Page Rank from PR1 to PR10 (PR10 being the highest). Now this is where it truly gets complicated. The quality (Page Rank) and number of the referring page can increase your page rank. For example, If you have a PR5 Page, it would take 101 links from other PR5 pages to increase your Page Rank to a PR6 page. It would only take one (1) link from a PR6 page to raise your PR5 rank to a PR6 page. Sound's easy, huh? This is the primary reason link sharing has become so popular. Unfortunately, most of the link partners need traffic worse than you do, so why direct site visitors to other sites when you need them to remain on your site. The best program is a program that refers links to your site without having to reciprocate with links back to their site. The Carpet Buyers Handbook has been used as a resource for years by Hints from Heloise, Cleaning Management Magazine, Cleanfax, large various daily newspapers and other consumer resources. We even received a "Dear Abby" enquiry. Each utilizes links to The Carpet Buyers Handbook, for their readers. This has created numerous PR5 or higher pages within The Carpet Buyers Handbook and a link referral from these CBH pages to a carpet wholesaler Site Partners is worth a tremendous Page Rank boost, which raise the Carpet Wholesaler Rank in search results and increases traffic to their sites. While it takes G00gle months to completely index the CBH and evaluate all incoming links, some carpet wholesalers have noticed a bump in results ranking in under a week. The Carpet Buyers Handbook Carpet Wholesaler Site Partners currently receive a link from every page on our site and each PR5 referring page increases Page Rank for our Site Partners. SEARCH ENGINE LISTING - It seems strange to me for a Webmaster to pay a search engine listing service hundreds of dollars to list their site on search engines. The search engines WANT TO FIND YOUR SITE, because they want the most comprehensive listing of search results. The spiders do this by following every link they find on the WWW and indexing the site. The Carpet Buyers Handbook is indexed regularly by EVERY major search engine and these spiders follow links from our site to our Site Partner's sites. One of our Site Partners was not indexed on G00gle and within the first week of listing on the CBH, the G00glebot indexed their site 35 times by following links from each of our pages. They were listed on G00gle in less than a week. One Way Links -One-way link building is a great way to improve your link popularity and ranking in the search engines. One-way links are more difficult to obtain than traditional reciprocal links, but pay off in securing solid long-term search engine ranking results. Link building in general is an important part of making sure your site ranks well in the search engines. G00gle and many of the other search engines include link popularity as part of the way they evaluate the web pages they include in the search engine databases. Links are seen as a positive "vote" towards the quality of the web page. Each individual page acquires link popularity based on the pages that link to it. G00gle and Yahoo both have toolbars showing the page rank of pages you visit, so you can use these tools to get a good estimate of your pages' link popularity. The bottom line is this: acquiring links pointing back to your website, particularly links from sites covering the same or related topics as your site and highly ranked sites, is helpful in the overall scheme of search engine ranking. The big "plus" of one-way links from The Carpet Buyers Handbook is that you don't have to worry about linking back to a "bad neighborhood". If your site has links pointing back to sites that serve as "link farms" or "free-for-all" sites, you may not gain, and could actually lose page rank. These sites are rarely focused, and tend to have links to and from all different sorts of sites. Since there is no particular topical emphasis here, it is clear to G00gle and the other search engines that the sole purpose of these sites is to artificially increase the number of links pointing to your site. Since there is no value added for the search engine's users, they in turn give no value to these links. Click on the links below to learn more about carpet.
